The City of Bayswater 2024 Community Art Awards Exhibition is now open, following an awards ceremony on Saturday 2 November.

Until Saturday 16 November, community members are invited to The RISE in Maylands from 10am to 4pm daily to browse a free exhibition of more than 230 artworks across a range of mediums, including photography, mixed media and sculpture.

Visitors can purchase their favourite artwork or vote for the Community Bank Bayswater People’s Choice Award. The City will be giving away a $50 gift card to one lucky voter.

A highlight of the City’s events calendar, the Community Art Awards provides artists of all mediums, ages and backgrounds with a platform to share their work with the community.

Wesley Jackson was awarded the City of Bayswater Open Award and $5,000 for his photograph ‘Leshi – Goddess of the forest’, with judges commenting that the piece was poetic and elegant, and gracefully captured a precious moment in time.

Brett Nannup received the Whadjuk Award and $5,000 for his intaglio print artwork ‘Boorloo’, which judges applauded for its powerful image and strong connection to place and country. Both artworks will be acquired by the City of Bayswater.

The 2024 Community Art Awards Exhibition was curated by Leo Flavel and judged by Jade Dolman, Ross Potter and Andrea Vinkovic.

The Community Art Awards and Exhibition is part of the City's 2024 Flourish Community Arts Festival. To discover the full program of events, visit bayswater.wa.gov.au/flourish
