Baysie celebrates diverse community with Pride
Throughout November, the City is supporting local community groups and businesses to celebrate Pride.
The City is supporting local businesses and community groups to present a series of free events celebrating its LGBQTIA+ community throughout November to coincide with Pride WA’s PrideFEST.
Since 2021, the City has taken part in Pride WA’s annual celebrations to support queer community members, and promote diversity and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ people.
In 2024, Steam Haus Café, Morley Rollerdrome, Perth Jam Skaters, Rainbow Families and WA Roller Derby will present a series of Pride events including a paint and sip session, roller disco, picnic for queer families and a Roller Derby exhibition match.
The City is proud to have supported a number of these events through its Community Events Grant and Place Making Seed Funding.
Celebrations will conclude with Pride WA’s annual Pride Fairday at the Supreme Court Gardens in Perth on Sunday 17 November. Community members can come along to browse a selection of books from the City's libraries and provide feedback towards the City’s next Access and Inclusion Plan.
Earlier this year, the City unveiled its first Pride mural following feedback gathered from the community during the 2023 PrideFEST celebrations.
