New Maylands car park supports local businesses and visitors
A new public car park has opened in Maylands, providing visitors with easier access to the town centre ahead of the busy Christmas period.
A new public car park has opened in Maylands, providing visitors with easier access to the town centre ahead of the busy Christmas period.
The City has constructed 18 new parking bays, including two ACROD bays, at 45 Ninth Avenue.
The new bays are a short walk to the vibrant streets of Whatley Crescent and Eighth Avenue, allowing shoppers to browse the unique stores or enjoy the many bars and cafés, while supporting local businesses.
Completion of the car park follows the City’s purchase of the vacant site in 2024.
The car park will have 16 new trees planted in the area as part of the City’s winter 2026 planting season.
The project reflects the City’s recently adopted Economic Development Strategy, which focuses on strengthening local business activity and making the City an even better place to live, work and visit.
