The City of Bayswater has endorsed its new Access and Inclusion Plan for 2025-2030, Inclusive Bayswater, setting a clear direction to improve access, inclusion and equity across the City over the next five years.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the new Plan had been shaped by extensive community consultation with people from a range of backgrounds.

“The City is committed to fostering a community where everyone, regardless of disability, background or identity, feels valued and supported,” she said.

“Inclusive Bayswater will guide our efforts in building a culture based on belonging and respect, where everyone has equitable access to City services, facilities and opportunities.”

Development of the Plan was informed by engaging with people of all backgrounds, including those with disability and their families and carers, members of our culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community, and people who identify as LGBTQIA+.

The Plan focuses on seven legislated outcome areas that aim to ensure people with disability have the same opportunities as others to access services, buildings, information, quality service, complaint processes, public consultation and employment within the City.

Recognising that inclusion challenges extend beyond disability, the City’s new Plan also considers the experiences of those in our CaLD community, LGBTQIA+ people and others who may face exclusion or isolation.

Following Council’s endorsement, the Plan will be submitted to the Department of Communities.
