Young people aged 15 to 25 are invited to monthly sessions at Morley Library to build their life skills and connect with others, as part of the City’s new Youth Zone initiative.
From 3.30pm to 7pm on the first Thursday of every month, students and young professionals can drop in to Youth Zone to hear guest presenters speak on topics ranging from preparing for the workforce to managing finances and receive personalised advice and support. Attendees can also use the space to tackle personal tasks or unwind with friends.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the new program would empower young people to navigate adulthood with confidence.
“Youth Zone provides a welcoming space for teens and young adults to learn skills that are crucial to success later in life,” she said.
“Whether you’re applying for your first job, looking for ways to study smarter or lodging your tax return, our guest presenters will be there to answer any questions along the way.
“Community connection is vitally important for young people moving into the next stages of life. These sessions are a fantastic way to meet likeminded people outside of school.”
Presented in partnership with the City’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC), Youth Zone is for young people by young people.
Youth Zone launches on Thursday 7 August with a pizza party from 4 to 6pm. Celebrations will include Mario Kart, Uno, puzzles and more. Registration for the launch event is essential.
