A striking new mural by Whadjuk, Ballardong, Arrernte artist Jade Dolman now transforms the exterior wall of Galleria Shopping Centre along Bishop and Russell Street.

The City of Bayswater partially funded the project as part of its work to activate the Morley town centre and showcase community identity, values and connection to Country through public art.

Titled All That We Need Was Found Here, the mural celebrates the significance of Country and features local flora and fauna, with warm colours representing land (Boodjar) and cool colours reflecting water (Kep).

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the City was proud to support the project.

“This mural gives the community an opportunity to engage with Aboriginal art and culture in a public space,” she said.

“It also gave local students the chance to learn more about Noongar culture through meaningful, hands-on experience.”

As part of the project, Jade ran workshops with students from Hampton Senior High School, sharing cultural knowledge and guiding them through the design process.

The mural launched on 2 July at an event featuring a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, acknowledging the cultural significance of the artwork and the stories it shares.

The project was delivered in partnership with Vicinity Centres and Apparatus.
