The City of Bayswater has upgraded the multisport courts at Gibbney Reserve in Maylands, delivering a safer, more durable surface for the community to enjoy basketball and netball.
With the courts reaching their end of life, the City invested $155,000 to resurface and improve the facility.
Upgrades included laying new asphalt, installing fibreglass mesh to reduce future cracking, applying an acrylic sports surface, and updating line markings for a variety of sports.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the project supports the City’s goal to provide well-maintained facilities that encourage active, connected communities.
“Gibbney Reserve is a much-loved space used by local families, schools and sporting groups,” she said.
“Maylands Peninsula Primary School uses the courts during school hours, and they’re open to the public at all other times. These upgrades deliver a high-quality surface that’s safer, longer lasting and easier to maintain.”
