City's 2025 community planting season takes root
From May to July, the City will partner with Friends Groups and volunteers to plant 20,000 native seedlings across its natural areas.
The City is working with community members and Friends Groups to revegetate natural areas this winter as part of its community planting season.
Over nine weekends starting Saturday 24 May, City staff and volunteers will plant 20,000 native species across the river foreshore, bushland areas, parks and reserves to enhance biodiversity and create habitat for local wildlife.
In June, residents can come along to planting days at Arbor Park and Bardon Park (Malgamongup) to learn tips and tricks for planting, pruning and maintaining trees from the City’s arborists and collect a free tree for their front garden or backyard.
Families can celebrate National Tree Day on Sunday 27 July by participating in a planting day at Claughton Reserve. Little ones can get their hands dirty with nature play activities led by Educated by Nature and get up close to WA Birds of Prey.
Community planting days take place from 9am to 12pm, with trowels, gloves and morning tea provided. Volunteers are invited to bring their own gloves, a hat and a water bottle.
