Community members are invited to a free exhibition of more than 200 artworks by emerging and established artists submitted into the City’s 2025 Community Art Awards.
Until Saturday 15 November, community members can head to The RISE in Maylands from 10am to 4pm daily to browse paintings, sculptures, photography and mixed media artworks. Visitors can purchase their favourite artwork or cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award winner.
The exhibition was officially opened and award winners announced at a special ceremony on Saturday 1 November.
Dominique Coiffait was awarded the City of Bayswater Open Award and $7,500 for his lino print artwork ‘Night of Silver and Gold’, with judges applauding Dominique for his masterful technical ability.
Rebecca Ryan received the Whadjuk Award and $7,500 for her sculpture ‘Chamber’ made from sewing pattern paper. Judges commented that the piece showed great technical ability and originality. Both artworks will be acquired by the City of Bayswater.
The City also acquired the Photography Award-winning artwork ‘Morley Market’ by Ryan Loo. The striking photograph was taken the morning after a devastating fire at the cherished shopping hub in September. Ryan will generously donate proceeds from the sale of the artwork – $606.20, reflecting Morley’s postcode 6062 – to affected business owners.
The 2025 Community Art Awards Exhibition was curated by Leo Flavel and judged by Brent Harrison, Sharyn Egan and Julie Barratt.
The event is supported by Community Bank Bayswater and Art and Craft World Morley.
