The City of Bayswater has begun rolling out a centralised CCTV system, embracing new technology in an effort to keep its community safe.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the upgrade would deliver a simpler, more scalable CCTV network across City facilities and public spaces to support the vital work of Community Safety Officers and WA Police.
“A modern and accessible CCTV system plays an important role in keeping our community safe, protecting City facilities and supporting our staff and WA Police,” she said.
“This upgrade will provide a more coordinated approach to managing the City's CCTV network, making it easier to support community safety responses, investigations and any future expansions.”
The new system will provide secure access to the City’s CCTV network for WA Police at the State Operations Centre and the Bayswater and Morley Police Stations, allowing officers live access to review and download footage as required.
The City's CCTV network includes approximately 280 cameras and supports key community facilities and public spaces, including Bayswater Waves, Bayswater Community Centre and Library, the Civic Centre, Lightning Park, Les Hansman Community Centre, Morley Sport and Recreation Centre, The RISE, Riverside Gardens and Robert Thompson Reserve.
The project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.
