Draft planning policies out for comment
Until Friday 20 March, community members are invited to provide submissions on two draft planning policies.
The City is inviting feedback on its draft Child Care Premises Policy and draft Short-Term Rental Accommodation Local Planning Policy and Guidelines.
The draft Child Care Premises Policy contains development requirements for child care premises within the City to ensure new centres are designed to prioritise the health and safety of children and minimise disruption to the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The draft policy includes development requirements which consider characteristics for suitable locations for child care premises; building design; traffic, access and car parking; need for management plans and independent assessments; and potential for family day cares to be exempt from development approvals.
The draft Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Local Planning Policy and Guidelines provide guidance to minimise the impacts of short-term rental accommodation, such as Airbnb and Stayz, on established residential areas.
The draft policy provides a framework to manage the use of residential properties for unhosted STRA to maintain the amenity of surrounding neighbourhoods, while the draft guidelines provide a checklist for owners to make an application for Development Approval to operate a STRA.
Submissions on these draft policies can be made by visiting the City’s Engage Bayswater website:

Submissions close on both policies at 5pm on Friday 20 March 2026.
