Local community invited to City's Plastic Free July workshops
The City of Bayswater is encouraging community members to embrace sustainable habits by hosting a series of workshops.
The City of Bayswater is encouraging residents to ditch the plastic and embrace sustainable habits by hosting a series of workshops in celebration of Plastic Free July.
Presented in partnership with Enviro House, activities include beeswax wrap and lip balm making, recycling tours and a workshop on how to grow a veggie garden.
Kids aged 6 to 12 can learn to reduce their plastic waste with a morning of fun and interactive activities at Enviro House, while teachers can learn how to minimise single-use plastics in their school through a tour of Hillcrest Primary School.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the City’s Plastic Free July program would showcase how individuals could reduce their plastic use at home and in their community.
“These workshops help residents learn simple and sustainable practices from local organisations leading by example,” she said.
"Reducing our reliance on plastic is one of the simplest and most effective ways we can protect the environment, reduce waste and create a more sustainable future for our community.
"Every small change adds up, and these workshops offer plenty of ideas to help people get started."
The Plastic Free July program of events highlights the City’s ongoing commitment to waste reduction and encouraging behaviour change and more sustainable practices across the community.
