Senior residents and community members are invited to share their life experiences with Year 10 students from Bold Park Community School as part of the City’s upcoming Intergenerational Storytelling project.

The City is looking for 15 senior volunteers who are interested in being interviewed by students. These stories will then be transformed into a published anthology for volunteers to share with family, friends and the wider community, with copies to be available at the City's libraries.

As part of the City’s efforts to increase literacy-based programs, this project aims to inspire the next generation of storytellers, providing them with a real-world perspective on what really matters in life and the challenges and opportunities faced over time.

Senior residents will be required to attend three sessions at Bold Park Community School's Maylands campus, where they will connect and communicate with students about their life experiences, which could range from their childhood and upbringing to their working life, travel, any cultural traditions and more.

The three sessions include:

  • Morning tea plus meet and greet: Thursday 23 April, 8.45 – 9.35am
  • Interview session: Thursday 7 May, 8.45 – 9.35am
  • Interview session: Thursday 14 May, 8.45 – 9.35am

Volunteers will require a Working with Children Check and a Police Check, with costs covered by the City.
