The City of Bayswater is encouraging men and boys to improve their health and wellbeing during Men’s Health Week, with free activities including a men’s health expo at Maylands Golf Club on Saturday 20 June from 10am to 12pm.
The Blokes, Bites and Better Health expo will feature a live hibachi cooking demonstration and tastings with Nutrition Nation, as well as a variety of health and wellbeing stalls showcasing services in the area, with the aim of celebrating healthy living in the community.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the expo, along with pop-up health stalls at Bunnings Bayswater running earlier in the week, were great opportunities for men to prioritise their health.
“It’s important we keep encouraging men to take time to focus on their health and seek support when needed – whether that’s for their physical, mental or emotional wellbeing,” she said.
“Our Men’s Health Week activities are about supporting men to not only stay active and eat well, but to join in on group activities and speak openly about the challenges they face.”
Stalls at Blokes, Bites and Better Health include Bayswater Blokes, Cancer Council WA, Diabetes WA, City of Bayswater Sport and Recreation Team, Greyhound Adoptions WA, Bayswater Men’s Shed and more.
Health pop-up stalls outside Bunnings Bayswater will be held from 16 to 18 June from 9.30am to 11.30am, and involve Bayswater Blokes, Bayswater Men’s Shed and Helping Minds, ready to connect with shoppers about local services that support men in the community.
Running from 15 to 21 June, Men’s Health Week is celebrated around the world to highlight the importance of men’s health and to promote the health and wellbeing of men and boys.
