The City has welcomed new changeroom facilities at Noranda Emerald Football Club, supporting a more inclusive and connected community sporting hub.
The project has delivered four new changerooms for men’s and women’s teams, with bench seating, seated toilets and showers with individual change spaces. The upgrades also include a universal accessible toilet, dedicated referees’ change space, large storage room and improved accessible pathways throughout.
The upgrades were made possible through $800,000 in funding from the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program, with the City contributing an additional $85,000.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the upgrades resulted in a modern, inclusive and functional space that would meet the needs of a growing and diverse club.
“These new changeroom facilities provide a welcoming space for players, referees and visiting teams, while supporting the growth of clubs and encouraging greater female participation in sport,” she said.
“Whether you’re a club member, official or supporter, everyone deserves to feel welcome and respected, and these facilities foster a more inclusive environment where people can connect, participate and feel a sense of belonging.
“We’re proud to deliver this project in partnership with the Noranda Emerald Football Club and the Morley Noranda Recreation Club, and I thank the Federal Government for supporting a project that strengthens community sport and brings people together.”
Federal Member for Hasluck Tania Lawrence said: “This is yet another demonstration of the Labor Government delivering not only on our election commitments, but on our broader commitment to develop communities by funding projects that build opportunity.
“I see this as more than bricks and mortar; it’s about backing local sport and bringing people together. These new changerooms mean Noranda has modern, inclusive facilities, creating jobs in the first instance, and then building pride and place for the whole community to get active, socialise and belong.”
In November last year, Noranda City Football Club and Emerald Football Club merged to become the Noranda Emerald Football Club. Since then, the club has continued to grow, now supporting nine senior teams and 13 junior teams in the 2026 season.
