City and volunteers to green Baysie parks this winter planting season
From June to August, the City will plant 25,000 native species across nine community planting days.
The City is inviting community members to roll up their sleeves and help green its parks, reserves and wetlands as part of its annual community planting season.
Over nine mornings from June to August, the City will work with Friends of Groups and volunteers to plant 25,000 native seedlings to revegetate natural areas and improve the biodiversity of the City.
Community planting days take place from 9am to 12pm, with trowels, gloves and morning tea provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves, a hat and a water bottle.
Highlights of the program include a family-friendly planting day at Bardon Park on Saturday 13 June, where all ages can enjoy an encounter with native bushland animals with the team from Kanyana Wildlife, and a special smoking ceremony at Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary on Saturday 11 July to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
Both planting days will coincide with the City’s All About Trees events, where residents can learn tips for planting, pruning and maintaining trees from a City arborist and take home their own tree to plant on their property. To learn more, visit bayswater.wa.gov.au/enviroworkshops.
