The City is partnering with artist and biodiversity educator Angela Rossen to host a program of free community events exploring the wonderful flora, fauna and micro-organisms found at its wetlands.

Running from May to September, the Wonderful Bayswater Wetlands project will educate community members on the biodiversity of the City’s wetlands through interactive discovery mornings at Baigup Wetlands and Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary, painting workshops at Enviro House and a free art exhibition at The RISE.

Angela and the City’s Environment team will also engage with students from Bayswater, Hillcrest and Maylands Peninsula Primary Schools on wetlands biodiversity through science, art and communication activities.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the project encouraged a sense of environmental ownership amongst the community.

“The City’s wetlands are not only beautiful, but rich in science and nature,” she said.

“The Wonderful Bayswater Wetlands project invites our community to develop a deeper appreciation for everything these remarkable ecosystems have to offer.

“With free, educational activities designed for all ages, this project truly offers something for everyone.”

The Wonderful Bayswater Wetlands project is presented by Angela Rossen and supported by the WA Government, City of Bayswater and Environment House.
