The City of Bayswater’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is calling on young people to attend the Youth Career Fair, with more than 15 stalls promoting various career opportunities for youth.
Held at the Civic Centre on Saturday 3 October from 11am to 2pm, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with universities, connect with apprenticeship and trainee support services, learn about volunteer roles and explore different career paths.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said with a large variety of information stalls, the Youth Career Fair was a great opportunity for community members to discover career pathways not previously considered.
“In addition to the information stalls, participants can have their professional headshot taken which could be suitable for a LinkedIn profile or résumé, as well as enjoy free bubble tea and Vietnamese rice paper rolls,” she said.
“The Youth Career Fair is being delivered as part of our YAC leadership program, which brings local youth members together to share ideas, develop skills and work with the City to deliver projects that respond to the needs and interests of young people.
“This career-focused event is organised by young people, for young people. It connects young people with potential employers and industry professionals to help them take the next steps into the future.
“I encourage young people who are keen to explore other career options to come along and connect with different employers firsthand at the Youth Career Fair.”
Stall holders include Apprenticeship Support Australia, North Metropolitan Tafe, The University of Western Australia, Curtin University, the Western Australian Youth Theatre Company, ABS Institute, State Swim, Enviro House, Kiara Fire Station and more.
Representatives from the City will also be on hand to provide information on the range of exciting careers available in local government.
