Applications are open for the City’s 2026/27 Community Events Grants, supporting eligible not-for-profits, community groups and clubs to bring community-led events to life.
This year, the program is offering two funding streams, with grants up to $2,500 available for small community events and grants up to $5,000 available for medium community events.
The City encourages applications for events that create community connection, celebrate local identity and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive and connected community. Priority may be given to free events held in public spaces that support local businesses and residents, including markets, multicultural celebrations, arts and cultural events, movie screenings, concerts, children's festivals and Pride events.
Community-led events supported through previous rounds include Talk Millennial’s Noranda Bites night markets, Ellis House Art Centre’s Christmas Markets, the Bonsai Society’s exhibition, the Filipino Australian Club’s fiesta and Books in the Brewery’s community event.
Applications can be submitted through the City’s SmartyGrants portal.
Applications for Round 1 of the program close on Wednesday 16 September 2026. Round 2 opens in February 2027.
Eligible not-for-profit and community organisations can apply for one funding stream per financial year.
