Stay on Your Feet

The Stay on your Feet program is now fully booked. Please keep your eye on the City's Facebook page for future programs. 

It's no secret that looking after our health becomes even more important as we get older. by improving your strength and balance, you can reduce your risk of falls and injury later in life.

In partnership with Injury Matters, the City of Bayswater is offering free exercise classes to people 55 years and over as part of a six week Stay on your Feet program. This is your chance to try-out a range of fitness classes on offer in the City of Bayswater, free of charge and without any ongoing commitment.

All sessions that are part of this program are free, however, ongoning participation at the community centres or at other sessions may not be free.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the City running this program?

To help improve the health and wellbeing of residents over 55 years of age, through participation in regular physical activity.

Where do the classes take place?

This program will be run at The RISE, Multi-Purpose Centre in Maylands, located at:

28 Eighth Avenue, Maylands

Do I need to be a resident of the City of Bayswater in order to book a place?

No, although the program has been developed to benefit residents living within the City of Bayswater, participation in the program is open to the wider community.

How old do I need to be to book on this program?

You need to be 55 years or older.

Can I book for more than one person?

Yes, you may book for yourself and a friend; however, we are unable to accept group bookings.

I have a medical condition, can I still book on this program?

If you have a medical condition we strongly recommend that you consult with your doctor prior to participating in any of the activities in the program. All participants are required to take responsibility for their own safety, based on an assessment of their own capabilities.

Can I bring my carer along to assist me at the class?

Yes, though please notify us when you register to ensure there is sufficient space.

Will the City be running this again soon?

This is a pilot program and depending on the feedback received the City hopes to continue and expand the program.

How much does each session cost?

All classes that are part of this program are free; however, ongoing participation at the Rise or at other sessions may attract a fee.

I'm over 55 but I still work, does the City have any plans to run these programs after hours?

At this stage the program is only offered at the advertised times. 

What do I need to wear or bring with me when attending the class?

You should wear clothes that are loose and comfortable.

If you have a yoga-mat please bring it along to the yoga class otherwise just bring a towel.

If I like the activity, can I join a weekly class?

The intention of the program is to provide an introduction to the various activities that are currently available within the City of Bayswater. Further information on ongoing timetables and programs will be provided at the individual classes and at the wind up event.
