Eligibility

  • Nominations for an award are open to businesses that:​
    - ​Operate within the City of Bayswater local government area
    - Hold a current and valid Australian Business Number (ABN) registered to a City of Bayswater address, and​
    - Comply with all applicable legislation and hold all required licences, permits and approvals relevant to their business operations.
  • Businesses applying for an award must have been operating for a minimum of 6 months as at the close of nominations.
  • Businesses nominating themselves in the Best New Business category must not have been operating for longer than 3 years at the close of nominations.
  • The following persons and their associated businesses are not eligible for nomination:
    - City of Bayswater employees
    - City of Bayswater registered volunteers
    - City of Bayswater Elected Members
    - Immediate family members of City of Bayswater employees or Elected Members, where the relationship may be perceived as a conflict of interest
    - Judges
    - Event Partner.
  • Suppliers of goods and/or services to the 2026 Bayswater Business Awards, including but not limited to suppliers engaged for the awards event.
  • The following persons and their associated businesses are not eligible for nomination in the same category that they sponsor:
    - Award sponsors.

Nominations

  • Businesses can complete and submit their nomination themselves.
  • Nominations made by a third party on behalf of a business will only be accepted if the business has provided their permission to be nominated.
  • Each business may submit one nomination per award category.
  • All nominees must consent to their nomination and agree to these Conditions of Nomination.
  • The City reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any nomination.
  • The Business of the Year category is not available for nomination; this category finalists and winner will be determined by the Judges.

Nomination process

  • The online nomination form will be available at bayswater.wa.gov.au/bayswater-business-awards during the nomination period advertised above.
  • Nomination forms may only be submitted online during the nomination period. If needing support, please email businessawards@bayswater.wa.gov.au and a staff member will assist. 
  • Completed nomination forms must be received 11.59pm, Friday 31 July 2026.
  • Ensure all details are correct upon submission as nominations forms cannot be amended once received.
  • All required questions must be answered in full for a nomination to be accepted.
  • Late nominations will not be accepted.

Judging process

  • All eligible nominations will be assessed against predetermined criteria.
  • The judging panel will consist of independent professionals appointed by the City based on relevant experience and expertise.
  • The decisions of the judging panel will be final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the outcome. All information presented is confidential.

Awards and finalists

  • Finalists will be notified prior to the awards ceremony.
  • Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.
  • Attendance at the awards ceremony is encouraged but not mandatory for eligibility.
  • Winners not able to attend must make a reasonable attempt to provide a suitable proxy to attend the awards ceremony on their behalf.
  • Finalists and nominees wishing to attend the awards ceremony must purchase tickets. No additional or reserved tickets will be provided once tickets are sold out.

Use of information and promotion

  • By submitting a nomination, nominees consent to the City of Bayswater
    - ​Referencing business names and award outcomes in promotional material
    - Using business details, logos and images for promotional and marketing purposes, and
    - Publicly announcing finalists and winners.
    - The City will attribute all winners wherever practical.

General conditions

  • Nominees are responsible for ensuring the category selections are completed correctly on the nomination form to ensure they are judged in the appropriate categories.
  • Failure to comply with these Conditions of Nomination may result in exclusion from the business being presented to the judges and progressing.
