Written Planning Advice
For more complex matters, such as clarification of planning provisions, interpretation questions, or enquiries that require reviewing a property’s planning history you may request written planning advice by submitting a completed Request for Written Planning Advice Form to planning.referrals@bayswater.wa.gov.au with a $73 applicable, in accordance with the City’s Schedule of Fees.
Written planning advice is limited to providing technical clarification and interpretation of applicable planning requirements under the City’s Town Planning Scheme No. 24, relevant Local Planning Policies and the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes).

What Written Planning Advice Cannot Cover
- Pre-lodgement assessment or review of proposed development plans.
- Analysis or comparison of multiple development options.
- Detailed technical or specialist advice (e.g. arborist assessments for street trees).
General Planning Advice (Book a Planner System and Phone Call)
General planning enquiries can be answered by the City's Customer Service team or Duty Planner by calling (08) 9272 0622.
Additionally, the City offers a ‘Book a Duty Planner’ service which is available Monday to Friday 10am - 3pm. Bookings can be made here: Book a Duty Planner or by filling in the details below.
If your enquiry relates to an active development application, you should contact the assessing officer listed on your acknowledgement letter or approval correspondence. They will be able to provide advice specific to the lodged application.
