Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July

Choose to refuse single-use plastic

You can take part in Plastic Free July by reducing your single-use plastic waste at home and on the go. Be part of this worldwide movement that aims not only for cleaner cities and oceans, but also happier communities.

Plastic Free July was founded in July 2011 by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz with the goal to make a difference by changing her behaviour around single-use plastics. The Plastic Free July challenge has grown to become one of the world’s most impactful environmental campaigns. It started as a one month challenge, but it’s since come to be a movement towards plastic-free living, and inspiring change in others.

Did you know...

  • An estimated 9 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean globally each year.
  • Recent coastal debris collections identified that more than 75% of rubbish collected on WA beaches was plastic.
  • Each year, Australia generates over 3 million tonnes of plastic waste (120kg per person).

Register for the official Plastic Free July Challenge here, and challenge yourself to either avoid single-use plastic packaging, target your single-use takeaway items, or go completely "plastic free" for the month of July. You might find that your challenge is easier than you thought, and hopefully continue that change into your day-to-day life.

Share your pledge with us via our Facebook or Instagram, so we can see our community making a difference.
