More and more residents within the City are determined to play their part in protecting, preserving and conserving our environment. With these awards the City wishes to recognise how important these grass roots sustainability initiatives delivered by our residents are. The Most Sustainable Street Award encourages residents to participate in these awards with their neighbours and become sustainability champions of the City.
Entering the awards is easy. The City has created a Nomination Form that all participants in the street will need to fill out. This form can be downloaded from the website or collected from the Civic Centre, the libraries, The RISE and Bayswater Waves. One person in the street will need to collect all the forms from the participants in the street and send them to the City by either post (PO Box 467, 6943 in Morley), email (email@example.com) or by bringing them to the Civic Centre (61 Broun Avenue, Morley).
No, however the more houses in the street that participate the higher the chance to become the Most Sustainable Street.
The Most Sustainable Street will receive a new street sign clearly showcasing the award won. The winning street will also win a $500 cash prize to be spent on further sustainability initiatives, such as for the creation of an edible pocket garden, native plants for the participating houses, worm farms or a sustainability event for the street to just name a few ideas.
Have a chat to your neighbours when you see them, promote the awards on social media or discuss them with neighbours when visiting the park. Alternatively you can print a few copies of these FAQs and the Nomination Form off (preferably on sustainable or recycled paper!) and put them in your neighbours’ mailboxes. Don’t forget to put your name as the street coordinator on them!
You can enter the awards between 1 July 2019 and 31 August 2019. Nominations will be assessed by the City in September with the winners being announced shortly afterwards.
