Citizen Science Through the Lens: Smart Phone Photography Workshop

Saturday 12 September, 3 – 5pm
$10 per person

This is an interactive workshop built around a series of fun and practical activities that will allow you to understand the features of your Smart Phone camera and improve your nature photography. Your images can then contribute to citizen science apps like iNaturalist. This workshop is facillitated by Jo from Coastal West Creative and Glenn Cook from Friends of Eric Singleton Wetlands.

Turtle Tracker Training

EnviroHouse is seeking new volunteers to join the 2026 Turtle Tracker program and help protect local snake-necked turtles through a hands-on citizen science initiative.

This free training session will teach you how to identify and monitor nesting female turtles, protect turtle nests, and record sightings using the TurtleSAT app. Participants who complete the induction can volunteer as Turtle Trackers at City of Bayswater wetlands during the nesting season from late September to mid-November.

Native Plant Propagation

Join us for an informative workshop on raising locally native species from seed and cuttings. Topics include seed preparation, preparing growing mediums, and how to prepare cuttings for a range of species. Participants will receive handouts and seed and cutting material to take home.

Natural Pest Control

This session will cover how to:

Naturally manage common garden pests, diseases and plant disorders
Use garden design, crop rotation and companion planting to support healthy growth

Heat Proofing Your Garden

Join us for a workshop on helping your garden remain a lush and productive sanctuary over the hotter months. Topics will include garden design and plant selection, reticulation and grey water systems, maintaining soil health and creating microclimates for maintaining backyard biodiversity and human enjoyment.

Writing the World Around You: A Nature Writing Workshop
