Dogs Exercise Areas

Dog Friendly Areas Dog Friendly Areas

The City of Bayswater has a large number of parks and reserves, with over 30 designated as dog exercise areas. In these parks your dog can run and play without the restrictions of a leash.

While your dog is off the leash, we ask that your dog be:

  • Under the control of a responsible person
  • That your dog does not cause a nuisance to other people.

Unless the area is a dog exercise area, dogs are required to be on a leash at all times when in public.

Guidelines for dog friendly areas

The City's guidelines for using dog friendly areas are:

  • Dog owners must carry a leash at all times
  • Dog owners must be in control of their dog and have the ability to call their dog over and attach a lead if required
  • Clean up after your dog
  • Watch your dog around children, even a friendly dog can injure a child while playing
  • Be courteous to other dog owners (keeping in mind some dogs play alone or are undergoing training)
  • If your dog is social and likes to play with other dogs, please check with the other dog's owner first.

Please note, the below map is temporarily unavailable, as we are updating it with new exercise areas after a recent review.

This map shows the locations of off lead dog exercise areas within the City marked with a dog symbol.  Areas not marked with a dog symbol mean dogs must remain on a lead at all times.

Dog Excreta

Dog excreta is an nuisance for other users of footpaths, parks and reserves. The City encourages dog owners to use dog litter bags, which can be found at most dog friendly parks and reserves. Not picking up your dog in a public place could lead to an infringement.

The City is currently trialing bio-degradable dog litter bags at Riverside Gardens.

If you notice that your local park is running low of dog litter bags please contact us:
