The City's multicultural community will be celebrated next month with a picnic and concert performance to mark Harmony Week for 2024.

On Sunday 17 March from 3 – 6pm at The RISE Amphitheatre, residents and visitors are invited to bring a picnic to share with family and friends at a communal long table before enjoying the rhythms and melodies of the Middle East from Group Ezgi.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti invited community members of all ages and backgrounds to attend the special event in celebration of the City’s diversity.

“With almost half the City’s population born overseas, this free all-ages event is the perfect opportunity to embrace the cultural diversity of our community,” she said.

“Our City of Bayswater Youth Advisory Council members and Age Friendly Ambassadors will be in attendance with conversation cards to foster connections between attendees and encourage the sharing of cultural stories among our community.

“Group Ezgi will then take to the stage, presenting sounds of the East and West in an afternoon of live music.

“I encourage all members of our community to join us in marking this special occasion and reflect on the importance of respecting each other and our differences.”

Sound of Anatolia is presented by Multi Cultural Music Inc and supported by the City of Bayswater through its Community Events Grant.

The City’s Libraries are celebrating Harmony Week with special Make It! Club sessions for kids, including making origami or exploring their cultural identity through collage projects. Adults can get crafty with a Chinese lantern-making workshop. For more information or to book, visit bit.ly/COB-Library-Eventbrite.
