City Of Bayswater

Youth Services

The City of Bayswater delivers a range of community initiatives which encourage community engagement and participation for young people.

Youth Advisory Council

The City of Bayswater Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group of local young people who meet throughout the year to discuss issues in the area and plan youth events. YAC is about ACTION, VOICE and COMMUNITY. Now is a good time for young people to join the City of Bayswater's Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) as we are looking for new members with fresh ideas. This is an opportunity for local young people to gain some great experience in coordinating and programming events and also meet other like-minded young people who are living, working or studying within the City of Bayswater.

If you are aged between 12 -25, live, work or attend school in the City of Bayswater and are interested in the YAC (or just want to share your ideas for youth programs and events in the area), please contact 9272 0658 or email yac@bayswater.wa.gov.au for more information

Youth Friendly Communities 2015 - 2016

Over the next 12 months the City of Bayswater will be running monthly activities for young people in the area as part of the 'Youth Friendly Communities - Stage 2' project. This project continues on from the Youth Friendly Communities- Stage 1 undertaken in 2012 and 2013. This involved a series of youth photography consultation workshops, which consulted young people in a creative way about how the community can be more accessible and inclusive of young people.

Stage Two of the project will support the implementation of the Stage 1 outcomes, across the areas of inclusion, civic participation, communication, public spaces, transport, housing, leisure, health and support services, education and training.

Some of the activities that have been run include a cooking/life skills workshops, urban art workshop and intergenerational "IT Hub". There are also many more to come, including: a pool party, leadership activities and a public speaking/short story contest and an orienteering event. The activities will also consult young people on how their community can be more 'youth friendly', which will inform the 2015 Youth Strategy.

This project is supported by the Department of Local Government and Communities
