Enrol to have your say

Posted on June 16, 2017

It's an election year for local government in Western Australia and to have your say you should make sure you're enrolled to vote.

In 2017, elections will be held on Saturday 21 October and you are eligible to vote if you are an owner or occupier of a rateable property within the City.

Australian citizens who reside within the City are automatically enrolled to vote if they have previously voted in State or Federal elections within the City. If you are unsure whether you're enrolled, I encourage you to check your enrolment with the Western Australian Electoral Commission before 1 September 2017 which is the last day to enroll in this year's election.

If you do not reside within the City, but are an owner or occupier of a rateable property, then you may also be eligible to vote.  To be a non-resident occupier, you must have a right of continuous occupation of a property under a lease or tenancy agreement.  If this applies to you, then you can obtain an enrolment form from the City.  The enrolment form should then be lodged with the City by 5pm on 1 September 2017 for assessment of eligibility.

Further information can be found on the City’s website at www.bayswater.wa.gov.au

Make sure you have your say on Election Day!

Freeman of the City.
