Rates smoothing

What is Rates smoothing?

Rates smoothing makes it easier to manage your rates bill. It works by spreading your rates payments into smaller, more manageable payments.

Rates smoothing is paid by direct debit, from a cheque or savings account, on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Interest of 5.5% is incurred when paying by rates smoothing.

Decide whether you wish to pay weekly, fortnightly or four weekly payments. Your 2018-2019 annual rate notice shows the calculated payments.

Important Information

Rates smoothing continues each year until you contact us in writing advising that you wish to cancel. Payments are always drawn on a Friday.

Accounts with arrears or dishonoured payments may receive a final notice at the end of the rates smoothing period.

The City of Bayswater's rates smoothing arrangement for this year, runs from 17 August 2018 to 29 March 2019.
