Paying Rates

Payment Options

Find out how to pay your rates with the City of Bayswater.

Online payment

Pay your rates online at our NAB Secure Bill Payment webpage. This is an encrypted service, enabled by the National Australian Bank.

To make a payment you will need your:

  • Payment reference number (found on your Rates Notice)
  • Credit card details (VISA or MasterCard).

Please note:

  • Limit of payment is a $5 minimum and a $100,000 maximum
  • A surcharge of 0.4% (inclusive of GST) applies to all credit card payments.

BPay

You can also use BPay to pay your rates if you have an online account with your financial institution.

In order to do this, log on with your banks' secure app or through the banks' official website and select BPay. You will need the Biller Code and Reference Number found on your rates notice in order to make a payment.

Phone payment

Credit Card payments (VISA or MasterCard) can be made over the phone by calling customer service on 1300 207 811.

Please note:

Mail payment

You can pay your rates by mail. Please detach the payment slip at the bottom of your rates notice, place in an envelope with a cheque or money order and send to:

Pay in person

Payment can be made at any Australia Post office by presenting your rates notice.

Alternatively, you can pay in person at one of the City's customer service centres. Please note our libraries have a cash limit of $150.00.

Direct debit

You can pay your rates by a direct debit payment arrangement. This allows you to make automatic, periodic deductions from a bank account of your choice.

You can set up payment by instalments, for the Prize Incentive Draw, or annually as shown on your rate notice. 

To apply, please register on our eServices portal.

If you prefer your direct debits to be drawn weekly, fortnightly, or every four weeks please contact the Rating Services team at rates@bayswater.wa.gov.au or by phone on (08) 9272 0922.

Rates smoothing

What is Rates smoothing?

Rates smoothing makes it easier to manage your rates bill. It works by spreading your rates payments into smaller, more manageable payments.

Rates smoothing is paid by direct debit, from a cheque or savings account, on a weekly, fortnightly or four weekly basis.

Interest of 5.5% is incurred when paying by rates smoothing.

Decide whether you wish to pay weekly, fortnightly or four weekly payments. Your 2019-2020 annual rate notice shows the calculated payments.

Important Information

Rates smoothing continues each year until you contact us in writing advising that you wish to cancel. Payments are always drawn on a Friday.

Accounts with arrears or dishonoured payments may receive a final notice at the end of the rates smoothing period.

The City of Bayswater's rates smoothing arrangement for this year, runs from 16 August 2019 to 27 March 2020.

Rates prize draw

The City offers an annual prize draw for eligible ratepayers who pay their rates early. To be eligible you must agree to our Rates Prize Draw Terms and Conditions.

In 2019, prizes included:

  • A 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage
  • Two holidays, each valued at $2,500
  • Performing arts tickets
  • Gym memberships and various cash prizes.

Payment difficulties

If you are experiencing difficulty paying your rates by the due date, please contact our Rating Service's Team on 9272 0922, in order to discuss your options. 

An alternative payment arrangement can be set up for weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments. A set-up fee of $22.00 will be charged to the rates account and penalty interest will continue to accrue at 9% per annum, calculated daily, until the outstanding amount is paid in full. 

All payment arrangements will be subject to approval by Council. Written notification will be issued once the payment arrangement has been accepted.
