2025 Community Art Awards and Exhibition

A highlight event on the City of Bayswater’s cultural calendar, the Community Art Awards and Exhibition proudly celebrates the richness and diversity of our local arts scene. Artists of all ages, backgrounds, and mediums are invited to enter to share their work with the community.

Whether you're an emerging talent or an established artist, submit your work for the opportunity to be part of this exciting exhibition and to win up to $7,500.

Exhibition Details
The RISE, 28 Eighth Avenue, Maylands
Saturday 1 November to Saturday 15 November, 10am to 4pm daily. 

Artwork Entries
Entries open Monday 11 August and close Sunday 14 September. 
Successful entrants will be notified October 2025

Award Categories

  • City of Bayswater Open Award (Acquisitive): $7,500
  • Whadjuk Award (Acquisitive): $7,500
  • Highly Commended (2 x awards): $750
  • People’s Choice Award: $750
  • Photography Award: $750
  • City of Bayswater Resident Award: $500
  • Sculpture Award: $750
  • Ellis House Member Award: $500
  • High School Entry (Years 7-12)
  • Primary School Entry (Years 1-6)
  • Highly Commended High School Entry (Years 7-12)
  • Highly Commended Primary School Entry (Years 1-6)
How many artworks can I enter?

Only one artwork can be submitted.

Does the artwork need to be recently created?
  1. All works entered must be less than 12 months old from closing date, the original work of the artist and NOT previously exhibited or produced (including entries into the photography category).
What is the maximum size of the artwork?
  1. 2D works must not exceed 1.3m x 1.3m in any direction, including frame. All 2D works must not weigh more than 10kg.
  2. 3D artwork must be a maximum of 20kg and must not exceed 40cm deep (front to back), 60cm high (top to bottom) and 1m wide (left to right).
Does it cost to enter?
  1. Entry into the Community Art Awards is free however, accepted submissions are charged an entry fee of $30 per artist.
Are artworks for sale?

All artwork must be for sale (except youth entires). Sale of youth entries is optional under the age of 18.

Will my artwork automatically be accepted?

All entries go through a selection process. Once the selection process is complete, you will be notified of the outcome by Friday 10 October 2025.

Who judges the awards?

All artworks will be judged on artistic merit by a panel of independent arts industry professionals selected by the City. 

What is the Open (Acquisitive) Award?

All entries are automatically entered into this category regardless of medium. The winning work will then become part of the City of Bayswater art collection.
