Lodge the request online any time: Request a bulk waste collection
Your request to have white goods removed must be received by the City by 5pm on the Friday prior to the collection day.
A maximum of six (6) mattresses and four (4) white goods can be collected under each allocation (2 collections per financial year).
Additional mattresses and white goods can be taken to Baywaste Transfer Station under a tip pass, or paid disposal.
Items that can be collected are domestic units only, such as cooktops, dishwashers, fridges and freezers (with doors removed or taped closed), heaters, hot water systems, microwaves, ovens, rangehoods, and washing machines and dryers (with doors removed or taped closed).
Fridges and freezers do not need to be degassed.
The white goods need to be placed in an accessible location on the verge. Contractors cannot come onto private property.
White goods/mattresses must be presented on the verge for collection no earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled date of collection, and no later than 6am on the scheduled date of collection.
No, the base of the bedding contains timber and other materials which are not recyclable at this point in time.
Please contact our Waste Management team on 9272 0605 to organise an alternative.
Bayswater residents can take white goods and mattresses to the Bayswater Transfer Station at 271 Collier Road, Bayswater, which is open from 7.30am to 4pm on weekdays and from 10am to 4pm on weekends. White goods are accepted free of charge (maximum of one per year); fees apply for acceptance and recycling of mattresses unless a tip pass is provided.
Tip passes can be used to dispose of mattresses and bed bases, however the following limits apply. One (1) tip pass can be used for up to two (2) mattresses, or one (1) mattress and (1) bed base, or two (2) bed bases. If you have a mixed load e.g. general waste or green waste in a car/trailer, as well as a mattress, the tip pass will cover the general or green waste (up to 300kg) and the mattress will be charged separately at $30.25*. If multiple mattresses/bases are disposed of without any other waste, one (1) tip pass can be used for up to two (2), and a charge of $30.25* will be applicable for each additional mattress/base.
*price subject to change in the 2023/24 Financial Year
