A person shall not trade, including from a stall, in a public place within the City of Bayswater, unless they are the holder of a valid permit. Trading includes selling and/or hiring goods and/or services. Exemptions apply, so please refer to the Local Law for further information.

The City of Bayswater has developed guidelines to assist residents in placing play equipment of verges and attaching swings to trees. Some play equipment is permitted, however others will require a permit. Please refer to the Play Equipment on Verge Guidelines for more information, exemptions and conditions.

Alfresco dining areas are exempt from planning approval, however a permit for Alfresco Dining under Part 10 - 'Outdoor eating facilities on public places' of the City's Activities on Thoroughfares and Trading in Thoroughfares and Public Places Local Law is required. There is no fee applicable to the issue of this permit.
To obtain a permit, an Alfresco Dining Permit Application needs to be submitted with a scaled plan detailing the proposed outdoor dining area and meet the following requirements:
- The alfresco dining furniture is located in front of the associated business;
- The alfresco dining area ensures a minimum clear footpath width of 2.0m in all cases. Pedestrians are to be able to make normal use of the footpath;
- A copy of their Public Indemnity Insurance.
In accepting the permit, the permit-holder will agree:
- to indemnify and hold indemnified the Crown and the City of Bayswater against any claims for any loss, damage or injury however arising from the operation of the alfresco area; and
- not to claim from the Crown or the City of Bayswater or any person acting on their behalf, for any loss, damage or injury however arising from any public work on the thoroughfare or public place.
There is no fee applicable to the issue of this permit.
