Youth Events and Workshops

Youth Jam 2022 brings a series of free art workshops and activities for young people in the City. Come along to Roxy Lane Theatre in Maylands from 2-5.30pm on Thursday 7 July. 

  • Deadly Denim workshop - Decorate a denim jacket with Indigenous designs to take home (pictured). Limited spots. 2pm start.
  • Special FX Makeup for Film workshop - create burns and bruises, as seen in the movies. Limited spots. Join a session at 2-3.15pm or 3.30-4.45pm.
  • Come along to an Art Jam workshop: 
    • Make your own Zine - a small booklet, great for writing comics, explaining an idea or sharing poetry and artwork. 
    • Clay Creatures - create your own piece to air dry or have fired later.

    • Mural - contribute to a collective artwork.
    • Create beautifully beaded and textile jewellery or sun catchers with Healing India Creative Arts.
    • Enjoy a silent disco.
    • Take part in a clothes swap or badge making workshop with our Libraries.
    • Complete creative challenges for free food and drink.


- Young people under the age of 18 must bring a signed parental consent form 

-  No bookings are required

- There are limited places for the Deadly Denim and Make Up Special FX workshops. Please ensure you arrive a few minutes before the session starts for the best chance of securing your spot  

- Everyone is welcome, but the workshops are excusively for young people aged 12-25.

Then answer 2 quick questions to register for a barista workshop at Steam Haus Cafe in Maylands.

You'll gain hands-on skills from professional baristas and leave with a certificate. We can’t espresso how fun this will be!
