Preparing your application

Download the position description link found at the bottom of the job advert. This document provides an overview of the key responsibilities, required competencies and qualifications for the role.

You will need to prepare the following documentation to apply for a job at the City of Bayswater:

  • Covering letter
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Copy of relevant qualification (if required).

You will also be asked to respond to a range of eligibilty requirements as part of the application process.

The City only accepts electronic applications, however if this is not possible, contact our People and Culture team to discuss alternative methods of submitting your application.

Visit Current Opportunities. Click on the position of interest, then click the Apply button and follow the prompts to register your details.

Once you have registered, you'll be asked to upload your covering letter and CV. You can then submit your application.

Note: The City reserves the right to withdraw an advert prior to the closing date, so it is not recommended to leave lodging your application until the closing date. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email notifying you of the successful submission.

Interview process

You will be notified if you have been successful in the shortlisting process. If selected for an interview, you will receive at least 48 hours' notice.  All unsuccessful applicants will receive an email from the City.

Interview questions will relate to the position you have applied for and the same questions will be asked of each interviewee. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions of the panel, and it is suggested you prepare questions relevant to the position.

Depending on the position you are applying for, you may also be assessed with a written test or practical demonstration.

At the end of the interview, you will be informed of the next steps in the process. You will be contacted and advised if your application has progressed. If your application has progressed, we will contact your referees.

We will contact the successful applicant by phone. At this stage, we will finalise your start date and any other conditions of employment, and you will be given access to the City's onboarding portal.

You will be asked to provide a police clearance certificate, any clearances and qualifications related to your position, and complete a pre-employment medical. Your letter of offer and all other new employee information will be issued to you through the onboarding portal.
