chavittupara, aswath

Candidate Name: ASWATH MURALEEDHARAN CHAVITTUPARA
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for Central Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: CHAVITTUPARA, Aswath is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

I am Aswath Chavittupara, a long-time resident of Central Ward, where my wife and I raise our children. For over 13 years, I have run a successful engineering business. I am also the founder of Aishwarya's Foundation, created in memory of my daughter.

For Central Ward I envision -

  • Ensure responsible budgeting without selling council assets.
  • Limit rate rises to CPI or less.
  • Fight for infrastructure upgrades for Morley Town Centre, adjacent to Galleria.
  • Improve street lighting.
  • Support small businesses, sports and community centre.
  • Support renewables for a sustainable future.
  • Hold regular town hall meetings to hear from residents.

Are you getting the value for the rates you pay each year?

I will fight for a fair share of council resources for Central Ward, work to stop the ongoing waste of ratepayers money.

I believe that Central Ward is not well represented and has been left ignored. We can acheive more, but only with strong representatives who deliver on their promises.

North Ward

pittaway, anthony

Candidate Name: ANTHONY PITTAWAY
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for North Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: PITTAWAY, ANTHONY is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

My family and I have proudly called Morley and Noranda home for 25 years. We love our neighbours and the strong sense of community here.

If elected, I will work hard for our community by standing for:

  • Keeping Rates in Check
  • Stronger Community Security
  • Better Street & Park Lighting
  • Balanced, Quality Development
  • Protecting & Upgrading Green Spaces
  • Supporting Local Community Events
  • Safer Roads for Everyone
  • Improving Sporting and Community Facilities

Our current council promised to keep rates low, but they have risen 17.2% in 4 years. The City of Bayswater have decided to stay in the EMRC despite serious financial risks - and without giving residents clear answers.

If you want a councillor who actually lives in the area, understands our community, and will put residents first - then I ask for your support and your vote.

EVESon, joshua

Candidate Name: Joshua EVESON
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for North Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: EVESON, Joshua is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

Over the past four years as your Councillor I've worked hard to deliver real results for North Ward. Together we've seen upgrades to sporting grounds like Lightning Park and Crimea Parksupport for community events such as Noranda Bites, major investment in CCTV to tackle crime, and a strong focus on keeping rates low.

I've lived in our City for more than 20 years, raising three kids with my wife. I know the challenges families face, and I bring strong financial and project management skills to make sure every dollar of your rates is spent wisely. Looking ahead, my priorities are clear:

  • brighter lighting in parks and streets
  • beautiful green spaces & well-kept streetscapes
  • safer crossings
  • more support for young people
  • engaging programs for seniors
  • upgraded community and sporting facilities
  • sound financial management to keep rates affordable

If you want a Councillor who listens, uses common sense, and always puts residents first, I'd be honoured to earn your vote for re-election.

District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for North Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: CHEUNG, Calvin is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

My family has proudly been in the Noranda area since 1981. With three boys, you've probably seen me at basketball, footy, tennis or swimming. I'm running for Council to help make our neighbourhood safer, cleaner, and more connected.

My focus is on:
Smarter spending of rates to keep them fair
Cleaner streets, and well-kept parks
More support for sporting clubs, local groups, seniors' programs, and small businesses
Balanced development that protects our way of life
A stronger focus on safety, law and order

South Ward

langham, christie

Candidate Name: Christie LANGHAM
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for South Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: LANGHAM, Christie is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

A vote for Christie Langham is a vote for change.

I am 51 years old, married to Gustav, and have a toddler named Nolan. Being committed to making positive changes for our community and residents is my priority.

I am a big fan of sports. One of my goals is to improve our facilities. My husband plays pickleball at the Rise. This sport is quite popular, and it is time to build a Pickleball Centre in our area. I believe the improvement of sports spaces encourages more people to engage in physical activities. This can lead to better overall health, promoting community engagement and inclusivity.

As a small business owner, I am aware of the challenges that entrepreneurs face. I believe in building opportunities for them to thrive.

The safety of our children is also paramount. I live near Peninsula Primary School, and I propose that we improve the traffic signage on our streets to prevent accidents and save lives.

I support community participation in our local government.

todman, lewis

Candidate Name: Lewis John TODMAN
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for South Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: TODMAN, Lewis is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

I'm Lewis Todman, a student teacher, local renter and member of WA Socialists running for South Ward. For the past two years I have been organising alongside hundreds of activists in Perth against the genocide in Gaza. This has become the issue of our lifetime and in response our politicians have done nothing but enable and make excuses for those responsible.

Every day I speak with friends and neighbours who are struggling with the cost of living and housing crises. Here again we find our politicians doing nothing to provide relief. Instead they continue to enable and make excuses for the record profits of developers and big corporations.

I will fight to address these issues here in Bayswater. I want to expand public and affordable housing in the area, to improve our green spaces, to expand council services such as childcare, and for the council to take a stance against war and genocide.

Now more than ever we need a council that uses its resources to put people before profit.

Enrolment Status: PETERSEN-PIK, Elli is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

For 11 years, I've devoted myself to our community as Deputy Mayor, Councillor and Maylands Ratepayers President. As an independent and experienced representative, I've been a strong voice on Council, focusing on delivering positive outcomes:

  • Championing efforts to increase tree canopy
  • Supporting higher density in appropriate locations, while protecting heritage and amenity
  • Higher rates on vacant lots
  • Significant funding for Maylands Lakes remediation
  • Addressing parking issues in the town centres and supporting activation and safety
  • Getting a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Guildford Rd
  • Stronger focus on walking, riding and accessibility
  • Looking after our natural areas & Parks
  • Mitigating mosquitoes
  • Underground power
  • Opposing excessive rates
  • Pushing for financial sustainability & transparency

My family and I call Maylands home. I'm committed to continuing to fix issues, reject factionalism, and push Council and the State Govt to put the needs of our community first.

Candidate Name: Avery WRIGHT
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for South Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: WRIGHT, Avery is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

We need change on Bayswater Council.

Housing costs are out of control!

I believe council is not doing enough to build the homes we need. Our city should be for everyone.

We need more diverse housing options, more incentives to build and we need to simplify the approvals process.

I'll champion local businesses, community groups, and schools.

I'll fight for a city that's affordable, sustainable, and easy to get around.

Together, we can build a thriving future for all.

Affordability! Build Homes Near Trains, Business Improvement Grants, Maylands Food Pantry

Sustainability! Protect our Tree Canopy, Electrification, Better Parks and Amenities

Active! Traffic Calming Near Schools, Build Bike Lanes and Facilities, Support Sport and Community Groups

West Ward

ker, georgina

Candidate Name: Georgina KER
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for West Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: KER, Georgina is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

I'm a community advocate and local parent, raising my kids here in West Ward and active in many school and community groups. Like many of you, I want our kids - and residents of all ages - to be able to walk or ride safely on our local streets, enjoy our beautiful natural spaces and heritage, and be able to live and work locally.

I'm a problem-solver and consensus-builder, and have been advocating to council on things our community cares about.

Speaking to local residents and businesses, it's clear to me that there are concerns about some of the decisions being made at council, including removal of healthy trees, road safety, and accountability for meeting environment and liveability targets.

My three key focus areas are: safer streetsgreener neighbourhoods and transparency on council.

With two West Ward positions open, it's vital that we elect strong local voices who understand the things that are important to our community. That's why I am asking for your vote.

District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for West Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: SO, Akasia is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

The City of Bayswater is a vibrant and diverse microcosm of people and places and it is growing. We need safe, sustainable and strategic policy and planning to capture benefits from this growth and improve liveability for our community.

I advocate for: economic development and local tourism - incentives and events that grow demand for local businesses offering food, accomodation and services. Maximising green spaces with shaded playgrounds and picnic areas for families and friends to enjoy summer. Easing congestion around town centres and problematic car parks which can frustrate, endanger and delay residents.

Black, Cale

Candidate Name: Cale Shaun BLACK
District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for West Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: BLACK, Cale is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

I'm Cale Black, your local candidate for West Ward. My partner and I live in Bayswater where we're raising our young daughter.

We love living in this warm and inclusive community, and I want to do what I can to build upon the things we love and improve where we can do better. My priorities are to:

  • Grow our tree canopy coverage.
  • Bring our local offerings and amenities to life.
  • Advocate for a safe neighbourhood.
  • Protect frontline City services.
  • Promote a prosperous City for all.
  • Push to keep rates as low as possible.

I have had hundreds of conversations with locals while out doorknocking, and one thing is clear: we want someone who will put the community first, and who will be there for the long haul.

I want to help solve problems and work collaboratively with others to get real results for our community.

West Ward deserves a local, progressive and committed Councillor to deliver for our community. With your vote, I'm looking forward to being that Councillor for you.

NIKOLIC, JOVANA

District: City of Bayswater
Nominating for: Councillor for West Ward
Election Type: Ordinary
Enrolment Status: NIKOLIC, Jovana is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

I'm Jovana Nikolic, an optical assistant, a teaching student at ECU, and a member of WA Socialists. I'm running for the West Ward in Bayswater.

Every day, I speak to people whose lives have been turned upside down by the cost of living and housing crises. Families are being forced to choose between food, rent, and healthcare - basic needs that should never be up for compromise.

I will fight for public spending that improves the lives of working-class people, by increasing the affordable and public housing stock in Bayswater, by improving community services, including those for children, youth and elderly residents.

I am committeed to fight for a council that takes a stand on the big issues as well. This means taking a stand for Palestine - divesting from those companies complicit in the genocide and pressuring our politicians to sanction Israel.

As a member of the WA Socialists, I want to fight for Bayswater to be a place where the needs of the people are put before profit.
