Mayor

Candidate Details - KER, Georgina

  • Candidate name Georgina Charlotte KER
  • District City of Bayswater
  • Nominating for Mayor for City of Bayswater
  • Election Type Ordinary
  • Enrolment Status KER, Georgina is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater

I’ve lived in Bedford for five years with my partner and our blended family. The first home I bought was in Morley 21 years ago and since then I've lived in Mt Lawley and Dianella before returning to the City of Bayswater. My experience with local government extends back to childhood when my father was a long-serving councillor for the Town of Vincent.

My first deputation to Bayswater council was at the age of 20 (council's eventual decision agreed with my recommendation, for the record). Recent lobbying efforts to council include an Electors Motion for an Active Transport Committee, and advocating for the Bedford North Design Guidelines.

I work as a management professional in higher education, and completed an MBA at Curtin in 2021.

My active participation in our community includes 3 years on the executive of the Hillcrest Primary School P&C, many years volunteering at the Inglewood Little Athletics Centre, and local participation in junior basketball and AFL (go the Bears!).

  • Candidate name David Landale BEETSON
  • District City of Bayswater
  • Nominating for Mayor for City of Bayswater
  • Election type Ordinary
  • Enrolment status BEETSON, David is eligible to stand for election as the owner of rateable property in the City of Bayswater.

Why me for Mayor

I have spent my life working and playing in Bayswater

Owner of properties in the commercial and industrial areas I despair at the lack of consideration and regard the council has given to industry ALWAYS IGNORED. I bring 40 years of expertise in architecture design building, I am dismayed at local governments arrogance and disdain for their rate payers and residents

THIS HAS TO CHANGE, State and Federal governments total lack of regard and consideration for the amenity of residents and owners in their quest for density and looking after their mates needs to be challenged, There are so many things that can be done better, Planning for the benefit of residents, Safety and security as a community need, A new approach to traffic, Put the GARDEN back into Bayswater, Manage waste, pollution, wasteful demolition

Social ammenity , Heritage in Bayswater

Make bureaucracy accountable

Much can be achieved if the council can act in the interests of their residents owners and ratepayers

It’s an honour serving as your Mayor - the first female Mayor in our City’s history! Over the past few years, I’m proud to say our City has taken great strides forward. We're implementing much-needed long term financial sustainability to continue providing the services our community expects.

As Mayor I have a strong record in leading a Council that makes common-sense decisions and gets results. We’re delivering a people-centred city, better environmental outcomes, lower emissions, record federal and state funding commitments, and massive community & sporting infrastructure upgrades. But the job isn’t finished.

In the next four years my plan will deliver:
Safer suburbs
More support for seniors
Beautified streets & revitalised town centres
Underground power across our City
Better maintenance of public assets
A new Morley Library and much more!

Our City is thriving. Let’s not risk the results of our hard work now. Your vote for me is a vote for experience, stability and a better Bayswater for all.

  • District City of Bayswater
  • Nominating for Councillor for South Ward
  • Election type Ordinary
  • Enrolment Status LATTER, Nat is eligible to stand for election as a resident of the City of Bayswater.

I'm an independent candidate with unwavering integrity. I've called this community home for 20yrs, including running Rabble Books & raising a child at Maylands Primary. I understand our unique needs.

I aim to unite our community for positive change, focusing on:
Increasing & protecting our tree canopy
Ensuring a sustainable, livable future
Helping families with the Out of School Care crisis
Activating empty shops
Amplifying community voices

I'm actively involved in local groups like Roxy Lane Community Garden, Maylands Business Association & Maylands Ratepayers & Residents Association.

My background in environmental justice, public policy & disability inclusion informs my ethics, reflected in how I run Rabble, an inclusive community-first space.

I’m running now due to: disappointing tree canopy policies, 9.9% rate increase in 2yrs, service cuts & factionalism on Council.

With your vote we can revitalise that Council, ensuring authentic progressive representation that puts the community first.

You deserve a councillor who listens, stands up and positively tackles the issues that matter most to you, your family and your community.

As an independent candidate my sole focus is on making Bayswater, Bedford and Meltham even better places to live, work and play - not on political ambition.

I will fight for local businesses and advocate for investment in your town centre that honours the character of your area.

As a member of various local clubs, I know our community groups bring life to our neighbourhood and deserve support and facilities that are well maintained, inclusive and accessible.

  • District City of Bayswater
  • Nominating for Councillor for North Ward
  • Election type Ordinary

A Voice of Experience
I am a long-time resident of Noranda and full-time high school teacher. As your current North Ward Councillor, I have consistently focused on bringing a commonsense approach to decisions that affect our community.

I will continue to improve:
Finances and Revenue: The City has a limited budget and rate rises must be kept to a minimum. Cost effective services must be provided and spent on core business. State and Federal grants must be maximised.
Community Safety: Increase lighting and more CCTVs in public places.
Environment: Parks should be maintained with sensible tree planting and on verges with optional planting. I have fought hard to retain the 240- litre red household bins.
Property Owners' Rights: I opposed the significant tree register for trees on private property, this impinges on your property rights. With your ongoing support we can continue to improve quality of life, social amenity and safety and make our city the best place to live, work and play.
