Harmony Week

Held each year from 15 to 21 March, Harmony Week provides an opportunity for us all to celebrate our community's cultural diversity.

It is an opportunity to acknowledge the benefits and strengths cultural diversity bring to our City.

At the City of Bayswater, we proudly celebrate all who call the City home. Our population is incredibly diverse, with nearly half of us (42.1%) born overseas and half of us with both parents born overseas (50.8%).

Past events and activities

In 2024, residents and visitors gathered at The RISE Amphitheatre to enjoy a community picnic and concert in celebration of Harmony Week. Group Ezgi provided a magical performance for the concert, Sound of Anatolia, which was presented by Multi Cultural Music Inc and supported by the City through its Community Events Grant

In 2023, the City partnered with John Forrest Secondary College to mark Harmony Week by creating a book capturing the migration journeys of students and their families. Thank you to the students who shared their stories with us. The Harmony Week Origin Stories book is available for free download:

In 2022, the City worked with John Forrest Secondary College to develop a Harmony Week cookbook featuring students’ favourite recipes from their respective cultural backgrounds. Students of all ages contributed personal stories and recipes from their cultural background to form the cookbook which is also available to download for free:
