Bedford businesses located on Grand Promenade are enjoying enhanced shopfronts thanks to a partnership between the City of Bayswater and RAC.

The City is partnering with RAC through its Reconnect WA initiative to reinvigorate the Grand Promenade shopping precinct by adding alfresco areas, planter boxes, custom street furniture, lighting and murals.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the work is part of the City’s commitment to delivering improvements co-designed by the community to Bedford’s shopping precincts.

“Last year, we held workshops with local businesses and residents to help shape the revitalisation of Bedford’s main shopping strips. Grand Promenade is the first of the five shopping precincts to be upgraded thanks to feedback from the community,” she said.

“Diners visiting wine bar Djangos, local café Our Table, Promenade Fish and Chips and Lebanese restaurant, The Habibz Feed, can now enjoy outdoor dining thanks to the installation of four alfresco areas.

“Two beautiful murals, colourful planter boxes, custom benches and festoon lighting have also been installed to create a more vibrant and inviting area for shoppers and diners.

“It’s fantastic to see the community’s vision for this shopping precinct come to life.”

Patrick Walker, RAC Group Executive, Social and Community Impact said RAC is proud to partner with the City of Bayswater through its Reconnect WA initiative.

“RAC is pleased to partner with the City of Bayswater to help revitalise the Grand Promenade shopping precinct and bring the space to life,” Mr Walker said.

“By trialling new and innovative ways to use our streets and public spaces, we hope to lay the foundations for longer-term changes that support RAC’s vision for safer, more sustainable and better-connected communities.”

The City will roll out improvements to the other four Bedford shopping precincts later this year.
