First Nations performers and artists will take centre stage at the City’s free Music in the Park event celebrating the Noongar season of Djeran on Saturday 15 April.

From 5 to 9pm, families can head to Robert Thompson Reserve in Noranda for a celebration of modern Indigenous culture. The evening will feature performances by Noongar singer-songwriters Kobi Morrison, Abrynz and Boox Kid, along with folk songs and native language covers from vocal quintet Della Mob, and a contemporary Aboriginal dance performed by Boss Arts Creative.

City of Bayswater Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the event was the perfect way to bring a close to the City’s 2022/23 Summer Festival Series.

“This year’s Music in the Park concludes an unforgettable summer of events, with a celebration of modern and traditional Indigenous culture, as we move into the Noongar season of Djeran,” she said.

“The City is proud to honour Noongar culture, support Indigenous-owned businesses and give First Nations performers the opportunity to share their stories at this free, inclusive community event.

“Indigenous culture is of great importance in our community, and I encourage everyone to come along to this wonderful event celebrating First Nations perspectives.”

Concert-goers will have the opportunity to sample bush tucker and learn about bush medicine with Bindi Bindi Dreaming, and browse market stalls showcasing the work of Indigenous artists and businesses.

A range of delicious dinner options will be available for purchase from onsite food vendors, and concert-goers are encouraged to bring picnic rugs and chairs.

This event is proudly supported by Hawaiian’s Noranda and Healthway, and is presented by ‘Make Smoking History’.
