The City is inviting the community to help shape the future of the Riverside Gardens play space in Bayswater, with stage one of community consultation now open until 4 May 2025.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said community input would help guide the design of the renewed play space.

“Riverside Gardens is one of our most popular reserves – a much-loved destination for families, dog walkers and visitors of all ages,” she said.

“With the existing play space nearing the end of its life, this is an opportunity to make sure the renewal reflects what the community values most.”

“We’re focused on delivering a design that supports inclusive, accessible and engaging play opportunities, in line with the City’s Play Space Strategy and long-term plans for the area.”

Feedback gathered will inform the development of draft concept designs, which will be shared for further community input during stage two of consultation from 26 May to 15 June 2025.

The upgrade is part of the City’s broader vision for Riverside Gardens. Located along the Swan River, the reserve is a key focus of the City’s Foreshore Restoration Design Project, which aims to strengthen environmental resilience, improve foreshore management and protect the area for future generations.

A Foreshore Concept Plan and draft Site Master Plan have been developed to guide future improvements across the reserve. These will continue to evolve through ongoing community engagement and available funding.
