Hazardous household waste

There are a number of drop-off facilities throughout Perth for the safe disposal of hazardous items. These items should not be placed in regular bins due to the risk of contamination and pollution. It is free to take a combined total of 20kg/20L maximum of items to any of the locations listed below. Some of the items listed below can also be taken to the Bayswater Transfer Station, at 271 Collier Road, Bayswater Waste Management

Waste accepted:

  • General waste: Fee payable
  • Asbestos: Fee payable. Must be wrapped in plastic sheeting and taped
  • Household Hazardous Waste Only: No charge for household quantities (up to 20kg or 20L)
  • Mixed waste (HHW with general waste) will incur a fee.

  • Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm
  • Saturday, 8am to 4pm
  • Sunday, 10am to 4pm
  • Closed Christmas Day, Good Friday and New Year's Day.

    • Motor oil (residents in the City of Bayswater may take up to 20 L of motor oil to the Cleanaway Transfer Station located at 271 Collier Road, Bayswater at no charge)
    • Needles / Sharps (must be in rigid, sealed container i.e. plastic bottle)
    • Timber - untreated pine* / light coloured
    • Timber - dark hardwoods

    * EHB - Be Aware.  European House Borer is a destructive pest of untreated dry pine.  There are restrictions on the movement, storage & disposal of untreated pine.  Call 1800 084 881 or visit www.ehb.wa.gov.au

Asbestos

Asbestos is classed as a problematic waste and must not be disposed of in kerbside bins or the bulk waste service. Asbestos poses a risk to staff and equipment during the collection and processing of kerbside bins and bulk waste. Asbestos is subject to strict disposal requirements. Please call Red Hill Waste Management Facility, a minimum of 24 hours prior to arrival, to obtain details on how to prepare asbestos for transport and disposal.
