The community can now apply for a share of $38k in funding to run their own events in the City of Bayswater. Funding is available in two categories: the Community Events Grant and Major Town Centre Event Grant.

The Community Events Grant is open to businesses and community groups to run events that benefit the local area. It could be a family fun day, multicultural concert, street market, or any event to bring people together. There is $20k on offer under this category.

Major Town Centre Event funding is open to groups who would like to run larger-scale events (attracting 2,000 people or more) in one of the City’s four town centres: Morley, Maylands, Bayswater and Noranda. Groups can apply for a share of $18k under this category.

City of Bayswater Mayor Dan Bull encouraged groups to apply.

"In addition to the City's packed program of annual events, our Council recognises the importance of locally-run events in contributing to the vitality of the City.

"Our grants support the delivery of events that have a positive impact on our City, activate public spaces and build community pride.

"The City has already helped fund number of successful community-run events this year, including the Tiny Sparks World Prematurity event, Noranda Vibes Christmas Concert and Maylands Street Festival.

"There is so much passion and creativity in our community and I hope this funding helps more great ideas get off the ground."

Applications for both the Community Events Grant and Major Town Centre Event Grant open on 2 December 2019 and close on 10 January 2020.
