The City’s Waterwise Bayswater strategy has been recognised at the Stormwater WA Awards for Excellence in the category of Excellence in Strategic or Master Planning.

The City has a reputation built on projects that protect waterways and improve local water resource and nutrient management, while encouraging biodiversity and creating blue-green community assets.

Looking to continue the water sensitive journey, the City collaborated with not-for-profit environmental organisation Urbaqua to develop the Waterwise Bayswater strategy to help it transition into a Water Sensitive City by 2030.

Waterwise Bayswater is the first of its kind for the local government sector and will deliver sustainable projects with multi-benefit outcomes across the total water cycle.

Each initiative within the strategy plays an important role in achieving the goals of the City as a whole - social, economic and environmental - and will use a collaborative approach to ensure the greatest impact will be made.

By collaborating with stakeholders, the City is equipping itself to make impactful decisions about urban water systems, leading to on-ground change.

The partnerships will strengthen the City’s research and skills portfolio, and be used to achieve best practice, deliver successful waterwise projects with multiple benefits, and pave the way for other local governments to follow suit.
