The City of Bayswater is kicking off its summer celebrations and inviting the local community to revel in the Christmas spirit with a fun-filled evening of Carols by Candlelight.
Taking place on the evening of Saturday 17 December, families and friends can gather at Riverside Gardens to sing along to their favourite Christmas classics performed by the West Australian Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Sweet Thursday Community Singers and a Christmas party band.
Activities and kids' rides will be on offer to keep the little ones entertained, and families can pick up a range of tasty treats from international food vendors or pack a picnic to enjoy under the stars.
Candles donated by Battery World Morley will be available for purchase throughout the evening, with all proceeds going to St Vincent de Paul Society to support families experiencing hardship this Christmas, as part of the City's Christmas Appeal.
Carols by Candlelight is the first of a series of free community events the City will host throughout the warmer months.
Celebrations will continue in January 2023, with a Community Barbeque and Citizenship Ceremony to welcome new citizens and celebrate the winners of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
National singing sensation Dami Im will return to headline the Bayswater Community Concert in February, after last year’s event was postponed due to WA border closures. Western Australian musician Soibhan Cotchin will perform as the supporting act at this not-to-be-missed event.
In March, the City will celebrate its culturally diverse community with an Evening in the Park, featuring live music and food from around the world, while April’s Music in the Park will celebrate the Noongar season of Djeran with a range of performances by Aboriginal artists.
The City’s summer events present the perfect opportunity to get amongst the Bayswater community and make use of our surrounding parks and gardens.
