Skaters can drop in on the biggest half-pipe in Western Australia on Saturday 10 December following the official opening of the newly constructed City of Bayswater Skate Park in Wotton Reserve, Embleton.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti encouraged riders of all ages and abilities to head to Wotton Reserve to check out the new vert ramp and BMX jumps.

“We have a really active skate community here in Bayswater. I know riders have been tracking the progress we’ve been making on the skate park and are eagerly awaiting the opening of the vert ramp,” she said.

“At 3.9 metres high and 13.5 metres wide, it’s pretty impressive. The new vert ramp is the largest in WA and is built to international competition standards.

“The new City of Bayswater Skate Park presents a wonderful opportunity for kids and adults alike to develop their skills on a range of high-quality skate and BMX elements.

“I’m so pleased we can provide this amazing facility for our residents and the wider Perth community.

“I would like to thank the State Government through METRONET for contributing $2.5 million towards the construction of the City of Bayswater Skate Park.

“The vert ramp with its additional roll-ins from above the main platform will help younger riders get more air and also be a hit with pro skaters. The junior plaza is perfect for little ones who are just starting out, plus there is a wide range of BMX jumps, and an extended skate bowl.

“Community facilities such as shade shelters, viewing spots and a picnic area with tables and benches make this a great space to enjoy with friends and family.”

The City received $2.5 million from the State Government through METRONET to construct the new skate park, following relocation of the existing facility to make way for the new Morley Station car park.

The City of Bayswater Skate Park Opening will feature rider demonstrations, a free sausage sizzle, free popcorn and fairy floss, prizes and giveaways, coffee and icecream for purchase, and more.
