The City is developing a Skate and BMX Strategy that will identify the need for skate, scooter and BMX infrastructure and guide the City in planning for the future.

Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the community was invited to provide their feedback through a survey that would help inform the strategy. The City will also work with its Skate and Bike Development Advisory Committee to develop the strategy.

“We know skateboarding, scooting and BMX riding are becoming increasingly popular and we’re keen for our community to share their experiences so we can better understand their needs and preferences,” she said.

“Whether you’re keen to build your little one’s confidence through smaller skate elements added to a path at your local park or are a fan of purpose-built facilities like the one at Crimea Reserve in Morley, we want to hear from you.

“The Skate and BMX Strategy will help us plan for the needs of skate, scooter and BMX riders across the City and is an action in the Community Recreation Plan 2022-2032.”

Once developed, the draft Skate and BMX Strategy will be available for public comment.

Proposed skate and BMX infrastructure will complement the mountain bike skills area and pump track soon to be constructed under the Redcliffe Bridge by Main Roads WA and the Tonkin Gap Alliance, and the pocket park to be developed at Coode Street Reserve, which is anticipated to include minor skate and parkour elements.

Last year, the City was proud to deliver a state-of-the-art regional facility at the new City of Bayswater Skate Park, replaced and fully funded by METRONET.

Have your say online by visiting Engage Bayswater or complete a hard copy survey available at the Civic Centre or one of the City’s three libraries. Submissions close 4pm, Sunday 14 May.
