Message from the Mayor

As the cooler weather sets in, there is still plenty to see and do around our beautiful City.

The City recently held its first ever Business and Investor Breakfast, attended by more than 100 business owners, developers and investors keen to hear how the City is ripe for investment. Speakers from DevelopmentWA, METRONET, Vicinity and Businessplex shared updates at the event which is the first in a series. To find out more, view the City’s Investment Prospectus by scanning the QR code on page 11.

From 2-9 July, the City will celebrate NAIDOC Week with a range of entertaining and informative events for all ages. Make your way to one of the City’s community planting days to hear from Elder Dr Noel Nannup or take part in a smoking ceremony. Visit your local library to enjoy activities like arts and crafts, and bingo, or hear Noongar stories about the Dreaming.

The City is currently seeking community feedback on its draft Local Planning Strategy and I encourage everyone to have their say. The draft LPS will guide planning and development within the City for the next 10 to 15 years. Scan the QR code on page 3 to view the draft LPS and make your submission before 23 June.

We are also developing a Skate and BMX Strategy to plan for the needs of skate, scooter and BMX riders across the City into the future. The City will be hostingcommunity workshops so keep your eye on the City’s Engage Bayswater website for your opportunity to get involved.

As winter brings along some rainy days, it’s a great time to help green our City by planting a verge garden or attending one of our community planting days.
