Morley is set for an extraordinary evening of performances from Perth’s finest jazz, hip-hop and First Nations musicians for the 2024 City of Bayswater Community Concert.
Taking place at Pat O’Hara Reserve from 4pm to 8.30pm on Saturday 3 February, this free event will feature soulful numbers from Noongar duo Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, followed by tunes from hip-hop Noongar/Jingili artist ZERO Emcee, with singing sensation Lucy Iffla and the 950 Express Big Band bringing a jazzy twist to the night.
Mayor Filomena Piffaretti said the City was proud to host a unique community event that catered to people of all ages and interests.
“This year’s concert brings some of Perth’s most talented musicians to us right here in Morley,” she said.
“We are incredibly excited to present to our community an evening of entertainment that will be unlike anything we’ve done before, featuring performances from a diverse range of musical genres.
“Bringing together jazz, hip-hop and Indigenous culture means there really is something for everyone at this free event.”
In addition to musical performances, the concert will feature Aboriginal and contemporary dance performances, didgeridoo playing, community and market stalls, food trucks and a number of free children’s activities.
Walking, riding or catching public transport to the event is encouraged, as limited parking will be available at Pat O'Hara Reserve. There will designated seating areas for picnic rugs and chairs.
The City is working with vendors to reduce single-use plastics at this event. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles to fill at the water station, and make use of their own reusable containers and cups.
The City acknowledges Lotterywest as a major supporter of the City of Bayswater Community Concert – Ngala Maya (Our Place). The event is also presented with the support of the City’s community partner, iAct Film & Drama Studios.
