The City is seeking community feedback on the draft design of an urban forest at Riverside Gardens East.

In November last year, consultation was held to understand how community members would like to use and enjoy the space.

The urban forest project will see an open grassed area transformed into a natural parkland, offering an inviting, shaded area for people to use, as well as increasing our tree canopy and biodiversity.

Proposed design aspects include park furniture, pathways, nature play, picnic nodes, drink fountains, bike racks and opportunities for education and interpretation through signage.

In March 2023, Council supported the City partnering with environmental experts Greening Australia to create an urban forest in Bayswater. The project space lies between Eric Singleton Bird Sanctuary and Memorial Drive, extending north to King William Street and south to the fenced dog exercise area.

To have your say, visit Engage Bayswater and fill out the survey before 5pm, Monday 19 February 2024.

Hard copies of the survey can be picked up from the City of Bayswater Civic Centre, The RISE, City Libraries (Bayswater, Maylands, Morley), the Bayswater and Morley Community Centres, Environment House and Ellis House Arts Centre.

The City will also host two community engagement pop-up sessions next to the Memorial Drive car park at Riverside Gardens East on Thursday 15 February from 4 to 6pm and Saturday 17 February from 3 to 5pm.
