Sustainable Bayswater

Start your journey to a more sustainable future today by joining us for range of fun and informative sustainable events throughout October and November.

The program caters for a variety of ages and will aim to increase the knowledge, skills and capacity of residents and not for profit groups, enabling the local community to take a lead role in the development of sustainable outcomes (e.g. recycling, reusing items, composting, reducing waste).

Home Composting

Date: Tuesday 13 October
Venue: Bayswater Civic Centre, 61 Broun Ave, Morley
Time: 6pm-8pm

Be part of reducing waste being sent to landfill by learning how to compost at home. This free compost workshop for beginners includes a free compost bin, worm farm or Bokashi bin to take home.

This workshop is only for City of Bayswater residents who did not participate in the 2019 program, and you must attend the workshop to receive your free composting system. Due to venue size, only two people can attend from your household and registration is essential.

Following the workshop, we would appreciate your help by completing three short surveys to provide information about how much food waste you compost and how the system is working for you.

This waste reduction program is being provided in collaboration with Bayswater’s Enviro House, who will host the workshop and offer ongoing support.

You will learn:

  • Skills and knowledge to set up your own composting system at home.
  • How to convert your kitchen scraps and garden clippings into a useful soil amendment product (compost).
  • Other sustainable strategies to reduce waste to landfill.
